Danzig [CANCELLED]

This summer, a sporadic heavy metal event is set to take place across the United States! The unprecedented heavy metal icon, Danzig, is going on a national tour and will visit 14 major cities! On this once-in-a-lifetime run, the critically-acclaimed cult-favorite group will also be bringing along several special guests, Behemoth, Twin Temple, and Midnight! On Sunday, 27th August 2023, Danzig will be lighting up Mesa, Arizona, with their sensational hits! Since emerging in the ‘80s, Danzig has entertained fans with incredible staples like “Mother,” “Am I a Demon,” “Twist of Cain,” “The Hunter,” and more. These hits were spawned from the band’s 1988 self-titled debut album - which also celebrates its 35th anniversary this 2023! So fans can definitely look forward to seeing Danzig perform the record in its entirety when they see the band at the Mesa Amphitheater! If you’re keen on experiencing Danzig’s exhilarating set, you better hurry and secure your tickets now!

If you’re a Danzig fan, you probably know that frontman and founder Glenn Danzig does not embark on massive tours anymore. The accomplished singer, who broke ground with legendary bands like Misfits and Samhain, already has a long list of completed major tours during his youth. And although he remains a remarkable performer at 67, Danzig is focusing on his career as a film director. He recently released his latest feature film, Death Rider in the House of Vampires, featuring Devon Sawa, Danny Trejo, and Julian Sands.

Fortunately for new and old fans, Danzig will hit the road on what many suspects will be his last hurrah. The band will celebrate the 35th anniversary of their career-defining self-titled album, released in 1988. Upon its release, the album entered the Billboard 200, peaking at number 125. The record demonstrated Danzig’s unique baritone voice with a bluesy appeal similar to that of Elvis Presley and Jim Morrison. The album’s megahit, “Mother,” later retitled “Mother ‘93,” made waves across the MTV era. The song was the band’s highest entry on the Billboard Hot 100 and Mainstream Rock Tracks, peaking at number 43 and number 17. The song remains a cult favorite. Over the years, it has been used in various films, TV shows, and games. In 2012, the song was used The Cleveland Show’s Mother’s Day Episode. Meanwhile. In the 2017 film American Satan, actor Andy Biersack and his fictional band performed a cover of the song. True enough, Danzig remains an iconic metal band to this day. They were one of the few heavy metal bands that received wide acclaim across the world, even with their outlandish evil lyrics. In 2017, the band’s debut album was ranked 23rd in Rolling Stones’ The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time.

Upon announcing this summer tour, Glenn Danzig took to social media to post the string of dates. The band also announced that this run will be “the only Danzig shows in the foreseeable future.” So if you want to be one of the last ones to see Danzig perform live, you should quickly score your tickets now before it’s too late!
