Mesa, Arizona, is getting ready to welcome the man who calls himself “El Rey del Dembow!” Dominican sensation El Alfa will headline a concert at the Mesa Amphitheater on Thursday, the 12th of September, 2024. El Alfa is one of the biggest names in Latin Music, particularly the Dominican dembow movement. His songs feature influences from reggaeton, hip-hop, and some Caribbean beats. The DR has always been known for producing performers with a ton of “Flow” El Alfa is by no means the exception to the rule.
He’ll have the crowd up on their feet dancing from the word go. This is going to be a great night to head to the Mesa Amphitheater with a group of friends. His “El Mejor del Planeta Tour” will be hitting up multiple US cities in the latter months of the year. The road to the top has not been easy for El Alfa. He started in the underground and indie music scene in the DR. Quickly, though, he got himself in trouble. Back in 2016, when he was just an up-and-comer, he received a ton of backlash for criticizing the island’s founding fathers in one of his tracks. He received 15 days of community service for the mishap, but the coverage of the story allowed him to get his foot in the door.
It wasn’t until 2017 though when his album “Disciplina” really took him from the music scene on the island to a much wider audience. In fact, many of the tracks from his first two albums are still part of the set lists in his current shows. “Takata” and “4K” are two of the songs that people go crazy with at his shows. He’s one of those acts that it obviously makes perfect sense to go and see if you’re a fan. Get a group of friends and stand in the crowd at the Mesa Amphitheater on that night in September. There are just not too many vibrant Latin music acts that are going to be making their way to Arizona this year. That’s why even if you’re not the biggest El Alfa, it’s still a great chance to get your DR, Dembow tunes fix. These are hard to come by in this part of the country. If you were in NYC, it may be a different story.
Keep in mind that most of the tickets at the Mesa Amphitheater are general admission. You’re going to have a chance to sit in the garden area as well. This might be one of the best spots to enjoy the “El Alfa” concert. It could be easier to find a little more room for you and your group to stretch out a bit and really vibe to those lyrics.
You’ll have no issue with the music. The place has a great sound system, so even in the garden area, you’ll feel like you’re right next to the stage.
